Columbia, SC (WACH)- A Special Olympics assistant arrested over the weekend in Mount Pleasant faces more charges for assaulting the same girl.

The Richland County Sheriff's Dept. arrested of Cornelius Kiopheu Davis,29, for criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Sheriff Leon Lott said Davis was arrested by the Richland County Fugitive Task Force at 9:30 AM on Thursday at his residence.

The victim’s mother stated that Davis called her to ask if the victim (who is 15 years of age and a special needs student) would be able to help him out at a softball game at Lower Richland High School (2615 Lower Richland Boulevard). Sheriff Leon Lott said Davis picked up the victim and her sister at their residence and at some point took them to his home. Sheriff Leon Lott states that the sister stayed in the living room while Davis took the victim into his room and sexually assaulted the victim. Davis told the victim that if she did not comply with the act that he would harm her family. Sheriff Lott stated that Davis has charges currently pending involving the same victim with Cayce Department of Public Safety.

Sheriff Lott encourages those who are sexual assault victims to come forward, what’s important is that we get you the personal attention you need and that we find and prosecute those responsible. Please call The Richland County Sheriff’s Department or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CrimeSC.

Davis is at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
