COLUMBIA (WACH) - Black History Month maybe coming to an end, but a new exhibit at USC honoring African Americans will be around for a long time.
African American Presence spotlights influential Blacks who attended the university, including Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin and State Representative Bakari Sellers, (D) Orangeburg.
The exhibit was unveiled Wednesday inside the Russell House ballroom.
“The exhibit itself will highlight the various rolls Africans Americans contributed to the university. We started back from 1801up to the present, so it’s going to be exiting to see the people that are highlighted on the wall,” said Rodrick Moore, Director of USC’s Multicultural Student Affairs Department.
Moore says a companion website will accompany the exhibit and also highlight even more of the school's influential Black alumni.
