Here is your Good Day Columbia GDC Morning WACH for 1-30-12:
This morning, we shared the video and story of 7 year old Brittany Baxter, who was the victim of an attempted kidnapping from a Walmart in Breman, GA. Brittany fought off the would be kidnapper, and it was all caught on a security camera! You can check it out HERE.
The incident got us talking and learning about some of the scary facts surrounding missing kids. According to the Center for Missing and Exploited Children, there is a report of an abducted or missing kid every 40 seconds, which translates into 800,000 reports every year.
Through programs like the Amber Alert, which became law in 2003, has helped the successful recovery of 554 children.
On our Facebook page, we wanted to know if you think your kid would know what to do in a situation were someone was trying to abduct them. You can weight in on the topic HERE.
If you are looking for something beautiful to do this weekend, you can head to the garden side of Riverbanks Zoo and Garden for the Orchids on the Riverbanks display.
