KERSHAW COUNTY (WACH)--Kershaw County narcotics investigators have arrested five people and seized nine dogs from a home in an area with a history for drug activity.
Deputies found crack cocaine and nine dogs inside the residence at 1571 Dixon Road in Elgin. Authorities say the dogs were malnourished and were living in unacceptable conditions.
While the officers were searching, deputies say several people drove up to try to buy drugs, but quickly left when they saw the officers at the home.
Sheriff Jim Matthews says the area known as Dixonville has been a problem for years. “We continually get complaints on drug activity in this neighborhood and we will aggressively investigate these complaints until we ultimately shut these people down,” said Matthews.
At the residence, deputies arrested 24-year-old Terrance Dixon, 23-year-old Brandon Dixon, 21-year-old James Arthur, 21-year-old Nathaniel Brown, and 36-year-old Anthony Cooke. All face several drugs charges.
Deputies are still looking for 24-year-old Jonathan Nelson. Authorities say he’s wanted on crack cocaine charges.
