ORLANDO, FL (WACH/AP)—Although both teams had wanted to play in other bowls besides the Capital One Bowl, whichever teams comes out on top after Monday’s contest will be celebrating a milestone for their respective programs.
If the No. 10 Gamecocks walk away victors, it will mark, for the first time, win number 11 in a season. For a year marked with controversy, hitting this number will put a positive stamp on the season.
For the Cornhuskers, it will mean 10 wins for the third consecutive season, including this years first season playing Big Ten football.
Both teams have mobile quarterbacks, in Connor Shaw and Taylor Martinez, both with a running game that their coaches say could decide the game.
The Capital One Bowl is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 pm on Monday in Orlando.
