COLUMBIA (WACH)-- Columbia police have arrested a man they say sexually assaulted a 19-month-old girl.

28-year-old Donnel Brown is charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Investigators say Brown sexually assaulted the girl while babysitting her at a home on Bailey Street on November 4.

The girl’s mother says she noticed signs of injury on her child when she returned home. She then took her daughter to the emergency room.

Brown remains in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
