COLUMBIA (WACH) - University of South Carolina quarterback Conner Shaw was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Shaw completed 26 of 29 passes for 311 yards and four touchdowns in just his second career start Saturday, as the Gamecocks thumped Kentucky 54-3.

The sophomore from Flowery Branch, Ga. became the first USC quarterback to throw four touchdown passes in a game since 2006.

Gamecocks Head Coach Steve Spurrier named Shaw the starting quarterback last week, after benching an ineffective Stephen Garcia.

Shaw played the first quarter of South Carolina's season opener against East Carolina, but was benched in favor of Garcia with the Gamecocks trailing 17-0. Garcia rallied the team to a 56-37 victory, and Shaw has seen limited action since.

What do you think about Shaw's performance?  Will Garcia be allowed to start again this season?
