MYRTLE BEACH (WPDE) -- A one-and-a-half-year-old boy was found in a pond near the 4500 block of Patty Lane near Myrtle Beach Thursday morning.

James Plymale was getting ready for work about 8 a.m. when a neighbor told him she couldn't find her grandchild and asked Plymale to help look for him. They walked to the pond on Daniel Road in the neighborhood and found the boy. Plymale pulled him out and started CPR. In the meantime, family called 911.

An ambulance took the boy to Conway Medical Center. Horry County Police Sgt. Robert Kegler says the boy is in critical condition.

Neighbors say they need a fence around the pond so something like this doesn't happen again.
