COLUMBIA (WACH) – Pupcakes Pet Boutique in Columbia’s Five Points held a very special celebration Tuesday night for Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services (PAALS) Assistance dog Casper.

Casper is the star of the shop’s newest commercial.

PAALS Executive Director Jennifer Rogers says service dogs like Casper, deserve the special recognition.

“Well I think a lot of people in the community are aware that we have dogs that work for people with disabilities, but I don’t think they really understand that our dogs get some time to be recognized. They get a time to play when they are not in their working roles and they do get treated very well,” said Rogers.

The commercial featuring Casper is set to air this month.

PAALS is a  non-profit organization and the only Assistance Dog International standardized program based in South Carolina training service dogs for people with mobility challenges.
