COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The Tom Joyner Morning Show will be in Columbia Friday handing out school supplies to 5,000 students. The show will broadcast live from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. from the Cantey Building at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds. Although the national broadcast will end at 10 a.m. the show will continue broadcasting locally until 2 p.m.
The event will present the community with four main areas of focus for preparing to go back to school including a health and hygiene zone, college and career zone, school zone, and food and fun zone.
For the first time in its four years, a career job fair will be held featuring organizations and universities from across the Midlands and the state.
In addition to the free school supplies, attendees can also take advantage of free immunizations, free health and dental screenings, free haircuts, and free games.
