ANDERSON, S.C. (WHNS, AP) -- Animal control officers in Anderson County are looking for the owner of an unusually friendly donkey found wandering near Starr earlier this month.
Authorities say the donkey is gray and black, between the ages of 7 and 9 and appears to be well taken care for.
Angela Robinson told the Anderson Independent-Mail that she took the donkey in after seeing it following a neighborhood dog.
Robinson says she has never taken care of livestock before. She says the donkey jumped her fence twice and had to be shooed out of the neighbors' gardens with a broom, but otherwise has been a delight. \
A local equine rescue group is helping the volunteer take of the animal with food.
Anyone with information on the donkey's owner was asked to call Anderson County Animal Control at 864-260-5576.
Authorities say the donkey's owner will need to show legal documentation to claim him. If the owner isn't found, the animal will be sold at auction.
