MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- Occupancy fell slightly last week along South Carolina's Grand Strand, the heart of the state's $18.4 billion tourism industry
But the Brittain Center for Resort Tourism at Coastal Carolina University reports Thursday while occupancy fellt, revenue for each available room was up more than 7 percent over the same week a year ago.
The drop last week followed two strong weeks in which revenue per available room was up almost 30 percent over last year.
Researchers at the university are predicting occupancy will be about 4 percent at the beach this summer compared to a year ago.
