GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) -- Transportation Department officials say the northbound lanes of Interstate 85 in Cherokee County have reopened after a fatal tractor trailer crash that killed two men earlier this week.
Transportation Department spokesman Pete Poore says the lanes reopened at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The crash Sunday killed the two drivers on the truck when it hit a bridge support for state Highway 150.
Coroner Dennis Fowler says the driver, 54-year-old Steven T. Woods Sr. of Athens, Ga., apparently fell asleep. He was thrown from the truck.
The other driver, 54-year-old Gregory Lockhart of Buford, Ga., died in the sleeper section of the cab.
Transportation officials say they will close a lane on the interstate at 7 p.m. Tuesday to install a new guard rail and to make minor asphalt repairs.
