COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The American Red Cross is already responding to the deadly storms that ripped through the Southeast. The Columbia Region has resources ready. Disaster volunteers are on standby in case they are called to the hardest hit states.
In the Midlands, Scott Salemme with the Regional Red Cross, says they saw sporadic damage in the Midlands. A few homes have minor damage.
Salemme says,"We want to have a state of readiness we want folks if they want to volunteer is to contact us before disaster happens so we can get them the proper training so they can respond appropriately when disasters happen."
Red Cross volunteers from the Columbia region are still on scene in North Carolina helping people deal with the aftermath of the tornado outbreak April 16.
The Red Cross depends on donations to support the people affected by these natural disasters.
