Jenkinsville nuclear plant conducting siren test Tuesday

JENKINSVILLE (WACH) -- Utility officials are warning residents near the V.C Summer Nuclear Station in Jenkinsville they will be testing their alert system Tuesday afternoon.

SCE&G will activate the 106 sirens within a 10 mile radius of the plant around 1 p.m.  The test will last three minutes.

The warning is part of the annual emergency response plan.

If the sirens were sounded as part of an actual emergency, an Emergency Alert System radio and WACH Fox News would have the latest information available.
