More patients come forward alleging chiropractor assaults

WEST COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Two more female patients have come forward accusing a West Columbia chiropractor of inappropriately touching them at his office.

A total of five patients now claim they were assaulted by 51-year-old Ronald Jeffery Shows at his practice located on Leaphart Road, according to Lexington County officials.

Sheriff James Metts says Shows turned himself in Tuesday after learning of arrest warrants in his name.  This marks the third time in one week that he has been held at the Lexington County Detention Center on assault charges.

The felony charges carry up to 10 years in prison.  The South Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners temporarily suspended Shows' license.

Detectives are talking to seven additional female patients as part of the investigation.
