COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Gov. Nikki Haley says she's planning to take the presidents of South Carolina's technical colleges on recruiting trips to show potential employers the state's commitment to train workers for specific jobs.

Haley says she also wants greater collaboration between technical colleges and public universities so that students can seamlessly move from one to the other as they seek a bachelor's degree.

She made the comments Wednesday after meeting with leaders from the state's 16 technical colleges.

York Technical president Greg Rutherford says public universities across the state differ on credits they accept. He says students often unknowingly take courses that won't transfer to four-year schools and have to spend more time and money than necessary.
