COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Two states are currently working to make it illegal to text while walking.

Lawmakers in Arkansas and New York have proposed a ban on the use of cell phones and mp3 players by pedestrians on a sidewalk or near a street.  The bill has already been dropped in Arkansas.

Millions of people have seen the video that went viral on YouTube showing a girl texting while walking through a mall who eventually falls into a fountain.  You can watch the clip below.

A ban could save you that embarrassment, but does it go too far?  Would you support something like this in South Carolina?
