COLUMBIA (WACH) -- "Tis the season of giving back.
Christmas is only three days away and there are thousands right here in the Midlands who are struggling to find a warm meal to put on the table.
The Harvest Hope Food Bank is stepping in to lend them a hand.
Donations are at an all time high this year with South Carolina ranking fifth in the nation for unemployment.
Harvest Hope officials are encouraging everyone to think of someone else this holiday season.
"You know, there are many families who've suffered unemployment, something catastrophic has happened in their family and they just need reaching out to and loved and a great way to do that is through the non-profit community," explains Denise Holland of Harvest Hope.
Harvest Hope serves 20 counties in South Carolina.
If you'd like to donate to the food bank, it's open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
