LEXINGTON (WACH) -- The family of a six-year-old Lexington County girl is grieving the loss of their daughter.

Officials say the child was playing on the front porch of her Little Mountain home when it appears she accidentally hanged herself with a jump rope she was playing with Thursday afternoon.

The girl was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department and Coroner's Officer continues their investigation.
