Columbia, SC - With Halloween now in the rearview mirror many people are looking ahead to the holiday season. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division was doing its part Thursday holding a food drive and fundraiser to benefit Harvest Hope Food Bank.
SLED teamed up with Bi-LO Charities on the project. In addition to collecting food and monetary donations, SLED was selling $5 lunches to SLED employees and several law enforcement and community partners.
“There are a lot of families across South Carolina struggling to make ends meet," said SLED director Reggie Lloyd. "Often times they skip meals just to stretch a dollar to pay for other expenses. We appreciate Bi-LO Charities’ willingness to partner with SLED in order to help provide food for those who aren’t as fortunate as we are.”
SLED officials were hoping to raise $1000 for Harvest Hope through the project.
