COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Seven South Carolina football players had 20 meals totaling more than $330 with people that violated NCAA rules.

The money was reimbursed to charity and eligibility restored to six of the seven, according to documents released Wednesday by the university through Freedom of Information Act requests by The Associated Press and other media outlets.

The NCAA has been investigating South Carolina's football program since the summer. The university received a letter of inquiry from the NCAA last month.

Previously, South Carolina had released documents that showed its compliance office initially signed off on a discounted monthly rate for some football players to stay at a local hotel.

The documents also dealt with a senior football player getting an improper loan to purchase a $1 million insurance policy.
