COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A sinkhole is causing traffic problems in the Five Points area of Columbia.

Police were forced to block off a section of roadway due to the large hole on Cherry Street.

The sinkhole occurred near Santee and King streets.

Traffic remains rerouted in the area while crews work to repair the roadway.
