FORT JACKSON (AP) -- The Army's top general is coming to South Carolina's Fort Jackson to inspect the changes in basic training and the service's latest effort to combat suicides.

Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey visits Monday with senior leaders at the installation that trains more soldiers in basic combat instruction and in advanced training than any other post.

Casey is taking a look at the new standards for physical fitness training which focus on building core body strength. He's to address the school where sergeants and young officers learn positive approaches toward mental health to reduce suicide and post-traumatic stress.
