Practicing game plan for severe weather

It's part of Severe Weather Awareness Week.
COLUMBIA -- Students around the state were running through safety standards Thursday as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week.
Dreher High School students could be seen practicing the duck and cover.
It's necessary preparation because South Carolina averages more than 14 twisters each year.
Despite the fact tornadoes can occur any month, spring sparks the state's severe weather season.
May is typically South Carolina's busiest month.
So when the skies darken, remember a tornado watch means conditions are favorable for twister development while a tornado warning means one is imminent.
A NOAA tone alert weather radio, along with a storm preparedness kit and a game plan should get you through rough weather.
When real severe weather arrives, knowledge and preparation are key to survival.
