(AP) -- CONWAY, S.C. A newspaper reports that some members of the Horry County Council have conducted business by e-mail and deleted some documents that should have been kept in the public record.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported Sunday that council members may have violated the state's Freedom of Information Act by having conversations in private that should have been in public.
The newspaper obtained e-mails sent to and from Chairwoman Liz Gilland's county e-mail account between January 2009 and January 2010.
Council members discussed the search for a county administrator and Myrtle Beach's motorcycle rallies. Council members said they considered the e-mails informational.
But the director of the South Carolina Press Association Bill Rogers said the e-mails were inappropriate.
