MYRTLE BEACH (AP) -- A plane traveling from New York to South Carolina made an emergency landing in the state after a pilot reported smoke in the cockpit.
Horry County Department of Airports spokeswoman Lauren Morris told multiple media outlets the Charleston-bound Delta Connection flight carrying 16 passengers and three crew members landed at the Myrtle Beach airport around 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Morris says the incident is under investigation.
Multiple outlets reported that MSNBC personalities Mika Brzezinski (MEE'-kah bruh-ZIN'-skee) and Joe Scarborough were among the passengers.
The pair are scheduled to moderate the South Carolina Republican gubernatorial debate Thursday night. Scarborough said on his Twitter account he and Brzezinski had been on the diverted flight and were driving to Charleston instead.
