CHARLESTON (AP) -- The stars are out in South Carolina to see the latest movie shot in the state -- "Dear John," based on the Nicholas Sparks novel.

The Sunday event in Charleston comes a day after the film premiered at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

Those who plan to attend include actors Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum, as well as director Lasse Hallstrom. Sparks will also attend.

Proceeds of the $250-a-ticket event go to Carolina Autism.

"Dear John" is the story of a young soldier and a college student who fall in love and keep in touch over the years through letters. It was filmed in Charleston in late 2008 and opens nationwide on Feb. 5.

Another movie from a Sparks novel, "The Notebook," was also filmed in Charleston.
