A hardware store employee is recovering after chasing a shoplifter out of the store.

It happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Lowe's Home Improvement location on Two Notch Road.

Investigators say a store officer saw a man running out of a back door. The employee ran after the man who then pulled out a knife and hit the employee in the hand.

The man then got into a car with two other men and sped off.
