COLUMBIA (WACH) -- South Carolina state agencies are making sure they are ready for an earthquake.

Governor Nikki Haley held an earthquake preparation exercise Friday morning to review the state's emergency prepardness plan.

Governor Haley said, "I want it to be perfect. I want us to know that every agency is in sync with each other, and I want to know the resources, more importantly, that we're not waiting on anybody from out of state to help us."

The most famous earthquake in South Carolina history was the 7.3 magnitude Charleston earthquake in 1886.

It occurred in the Middleton Place-Summerville Seismic Zone where, according to the South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SCEMD), 70% of earthquake activity in the state originates.

South Carolina typically sees between 10 to 20 small earthquakes every year.

Governor Haley says the group plans to meet again to fine-tune the details of the prepardness plan.
