FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) -- The Army is honoring one of its chaplains and six chaplain assistants who died while serving their country.
Army spokeswoman Julia Simpkins says Friday's memorial wreath-laying is scheduled for the Chaplain Corps Memorial at the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School on Fort Jackson.
The memorial features a life-size bronze statue of an Army chaplain comforting a grief-stricken soldier.
Simpkins says the names of the seven have been added to the center's wall of remembrance, which lists more than 300 chaplains and chaplain assistants who gave their lives.
The wall lists the names of the chaplains and chaplain assistants who perished in conflicts from the Revolutionary War to Afghanistan and Iraq.
