COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A jury has found a state representative from Florence guilty of four counts of misdemeanor tax evasion.

Republican Kris Crawford was fined $10,000, but was not sentenced to any jail time Friday. A Florence County jury deliberated less than two hours before reaching their verdict.

The Legislature's lone doctor says he depended on his accountant to properly file his taxes. Prosecutors argued Crawford intentionally didn't ask questions of his accounts even when problems arose about his tax returns from 2004 to 2007.

Crawford says he's relieved it's over and glad he went through the jury process.

He faced up to a year in jail and a $10,000 fine on each count. Crawford was re-elected this month with 69 percent of the vote.

His last trial ended with a hung jury.
