COLUMBIA (WACH)-Thousands of runners braved the cold Saturday morning and tied their shoes for a big run.

The annual Governor's Cup Race in downtown Columbia brought out people of all ages Saturday morning. The event consisted of a half marathon run, 8K, and four mile walk. There was also a kids fun run.

The course ran all the way to Five Points and back. Participants like Jud Brooker said it was challenging, but fun.

"It is a pretty tough course. It's not killer but pretty much the whole time, you are either going up a hill or down a hill. I coach at Columbia International University so most of my team was here yelling for me. That was pretty sweet to see them screaming their heads off with signs."

Participants also got medals and other awards after the runs were finished.
