LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) -- Deputies say a Lancaster man left his 2-year-old and 6-month-old children sleeping at home while he went on a beer run.

Investigators said that officers found 26-year-old Christopher Blackmon walking along the side of the road early Tuesday morning after getting a call about an intoxicated mo-ped rider.

Lancaster County deputies say Blackmon told them he ran out of beer and was going to get more, but his mo-ped ran out of gas.

Officers went to Blackmon's home and found the two children asleep, along with beer cans scattered around.
