COLUMBIA (WACH) - An unsuccessful attempt to break into an ATM on Broad River Road has one suspect wanted by authorities.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says the incident occurred around 3 a.m. Thursday, October 4 at an ATM on Broad River Road.

The suspect is wanted for discharging a firearm and destruction of private property.

According to Lott, deputies determined the suspect fired a shotgun at the ATM in an attempt to get inside, but he was unable to break into the machine.

The suspect is described by authorities as a man who was wearing a white long sleeve shirt or hoodie and dark pants at the time of the incident.
