COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Columbia police are asking for the public’s help identifying a person of interest in connection with a murder along North Main Street last month.

Investigators want to identify and locate the male in the picture to determine if he has any information on the case.

The incident took place September 16 in the 3800 block of North Main Street.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says 48-year-old Michael Davis died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators also continue to search for a 1996 white, 4-door Mazda Protégé that was seen on surveillance video at the time of the murder. The rear tail lights may be damaged.

Police think the car did not have a tag at the time of the murder and that the victim was in possession of it.

Police Chief Randy Scott asks that anyone with any information on this case call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
