COLUMBIA (WACH) - Three Richland 2 school were placed on moderate lockdown Thursday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m., the Sheriff's Department got a call that a man was seen carrying a shot gun on Lee Road. That road runs adjacent to three Richland 2 schools.

Richland County Sheriff's spokesman Curtis Wilson says Rice Creek Elementary, Ridge View High School, and Sandlapper Elementary are on moderate lockdown.   Moderate lockdown means no one can enter the school.

The search ended just after 3 p.m. when the person was located by authorities. The person was a teenager who was found in the Longcreek Plantation residential neighborhood.

Authorities assisted the schools with controlled dismissals around 3 p.m.
