COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The All Local Farmer's Market in Columbia is getting the opportunity to head downtown.
Emile DeFelice started the All Local Farmer's Market 7 years ago. The Farmer's Market has been at 701 Whaley Street for the last three-and-a-half years however come October 13th it will be moving to the 1500 block of Main Street.
"There's a lot of variables that make a farmer's market work and location of course is the most important," said DeFelice.
DeFelice said people can expect to see Main Street packed with almost 100 vendors. It will be the first Farmers Market downtown Columbia has seen in more than 60 years.
In this week's City Council meeting, DeFelice thanked City leaders for bringing vendors to Main Street. It is something Mayor Steve Benjamin asked DeFelice to consider years ago.
iI feeds directly into our vision for Columbia becoming one of the most talented educated entrepreneur in the Southeast, which means we have to have a vibrant exciting urban core," said Mayor Benjamin.
"You get to see a lot of different business people, and we create incomes. It's amazing you know we have people that have gone from a hobby to a career,"said DeFelice.
DeFelice said they still have room for more vendors representing more nationalities such as local retailers, collectors, and farmers.
