COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The University of South Carolina is hosting a two-day conference on the education of Latino children and how literature portrays them and their parents.

Spokeswoman Frenche Brewer says the College of Education hosts the event beginning Friday at the Darla Moore School of Business.

Topics include research on the education of Latino children, their families and how they're depicted in literature.

The last such conference was held at USC in 2009 and plans call for it to become an annual event.
