22 teams set to compete in SC barbecue contest

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The South Carolina Department of Agriculture is inviting people to come to a barbecue competition that showcases the state's specialty food suppliers.

Organizers say 22 teams are preparing to compete in Smoke on the Water `Neath the Bridge: 1st Annual 302 Artisans' Invitational BBQ Cook Off.

The two day event gets under way on Friday in Columbia and continues through Saturday. The teams are tasked with using seasonings, rubs and sauces from the supply of South Carolina Specialty Food Association products at 302 Artisan in Columbia.

Categories include chicken wings and Boston Butt, and admission is just $5 for adults.

There are also family friendly activities and music available.
