CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Low-cost airline carrier JetBlue will begin serving Charleston next year.

The airline says it plans to serve the area with 3 flights daily beginning in February.

The flights will include direct service twice a day to JFK International in New York and once a day to Logan International in Boston.

Local aviation and tourism officials say that will mean an additional 100,000 airline seats for Charleston each year.

The nearest cities to Charleston currently served by JetBlue are Charlotte, N.C., and Jacksonville, Fla.
