COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Two men have pleaded guilty in the shooting death of a Columbia-area pizza shop manager last year.

Twenty-three-year-old David Wesley Watson and Darnell Crocker pleaded guilty to killing Steven Fowler in a holdup attempt.

Circuit Judge Casey Manning sentenced Watson to a total of 50 years in prison without parole. Crocker will be sentenced later. He was a former employee of the restaurant who had been fired by Fowler.

The two are among five people charged in the attempted robbery and killing in June 2011.

Fowler was shot as he was taking the day's proceeds to the bank. The $1,700 in his car was not taken.

The charges are pending against the other three suspects, Edward Antonio Walker, Carwin Tyron Pettis and Timothy Ricardo Fisher.
