Teen drowns in Lake Murray during church function

RICHLAND COUNTY (WACH) -- A day at the lake turned deadly in Richland County Sunday afternoon.

Richland County deputies say a teenager drowned in Lake Murray. According to investigators, a group of kids were playing in the water when they noticed the teen didn't come out.

Divers later went in and recovered his body around 7:30 p.m.

Coroner Gary Watts says the victim was 18-year-old Christopher J. Riddle of Columbia.

Deputies say the kids were attending a church function at a home in the 200 block of Amenity Road.
