One hospitalized after a stabbing near a Midlands Church

COLUMBIA, (WACH) -- Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott said a man is in the hospital after being stabbed.

According to police the stabbing incident occurred before 6pm Saturday evening at the 1300 block of Richland Street, near Ebenezer Lutheran Church.

Early information indicates that the two had finished eating dinner at the church and had an argument, which ended with one man stabbing the victim in the arm and abdomen.

Officials say the suspect was seen running away from the scene.

Witnesses described the suspect as a black male with a stocky build, and possibly 5'9 to 5'10 in height.

Witnesses said he was wearing camouflage pants, an orange t-shirt, and a green hat.

Cheif Scott encourages anyone with any information about this incident to call crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIMESC.
