COLUMBIA (WACH) - The Richland County coroner has identified the person who died Thursday night in a single car wreck.

Coroner Gary Watts says 27-year-old Nicolas J. Barras of Wedgefield was the driver and only occupant of a vehicle that left the roadway and overturned on Garners Ferry Road around 6 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities say Barras was driving west on Highway 378 near Piney Branch Road in a 1985 Chevy Camaro.

Barras was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Watts.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
