COLUMBIA (WACH) - Verizon Wireless users in the Midlands may have experienced "interruptions in service" Friday afternoon.
Around 2 p.m. Friday, WACH Fox received information that people around the Midlands who use Verizon Wirless were experiencing trouble sending and receiving cell phone calls.
"Verizon Wireless is currently experiencing interruptions in service for many customers throughout the Midlands. Our engineers and technicians are aware of the issue and are working diligently to resolve it," said a Verizon Wireless spokesperson.
Just after 4 p.m., service was being restored.
"Verizon Wireless engineers were able to identify and resolve the issue promptly. Service is being fully restored and we expect full network service within moments," said a Verizon Wireless spokesperson.
Some viewers say they are not concerned about the outage and did not even realize their phone could not make calls.
A viewer in Camden who asked to remain anonymous said he has a desk phone and several other phones in his office if he needed to make a call.
Text messaging and data systems never seem to have been affected.
