COLUMBIA (WACH)-  Another case of indecent exposure has been reported in the city of Columbia.

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, August 2,  shortly after 8:30 p.m. at 1351 Jim Hamilton Boulevard.

A female tells investigators that she was running laps around the track at Owens Field Park when she saw a man standing on the hill behind the park. At that time he was wearing a gray shirt and gray/blue shorts and sunglasses. The woman adds that when she made her final lap around the track, the man was completely naked. Since she did not have her phone with her, she called police when she arrived home safely.  The woman describes the suspect as possibly being a 50-year-old white male, standing 5’8” and weighing 200 pounds.

CPD Investigators have not made a direct connection with this indecent exposure case to other similar crimes.CPD is working with a SLED forensic artist to design a composite sketch of the suspect.

Here are a few safety tips to keep in mind when exercising outdoors:

1.     Be vigilant when you are exercising outdoors

2.     If possible run, jog or walk with a partner

3.     Try to run, jog or walk in well-lighted areas

4.     Know your surroundings

5.     Report suspicious people in your neighborhood to law enforcement

6.     Make sure you have your cell phone handy with 9-1-1 on a speed dial in case of an emergency

7.     Use caution when approaching strangers

8.     Use caution when speaking with strangers who may approach you

9.     Do NOT try to confront a stranger, especially during a suspected criminal act.
