COLUMBIA (WACH) --- Teeing off with pro golfer Will Lowery, that’s what a group of Midlands students had the chance to do Friday.
The Rudolph Canzater Memorial Classic presenting a golf clinic at the James E. Clyburn golf center.
The classic added the event designed for the youth of the First Tee of Columbia. 40 youngster’s participated.
Mr. Lowery talked about instruction on the fundamentals of golf and his time being on the Golf Channels big break Indian Wells Competition.
Lowery encourages young people to get involved in golf and never stop trying.
He explains what he had to do when he started training for golf.
“The time that I put in there was alot. Six, seven hour days, I still do it to this day. You have to be disciplined cutting your phone off. Distractions have to be at bay. But honestly accessing what you have to do, where you want to be, understand the goal and by any means necessary getting there,” says Lowery.
First Tee of Columbia's mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing affordable learning facilities and education that promotes character development through the game of golf.
The proceeds from this annual event are used to help fund college scholarships for needy students.
