COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Tropical Storm Ernesto formed Thursday to the east of the Lesser Antilles island chain in the Caribbean.

The National Hurricane Center says the maximum sustained winds are currently at 50mph with some higher gusts.

The storm is moving to the west at 22 mph.

Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect for parts of the lower Caribbean.

Tropical Storm force winds extend up to 115 miles outward from the center of the storm.

Ernesto is forcasted to become a category 1 hurricane by Monday with winds of 75 mph.

The latest forecast track takes the storm to the south of Cuba by Tuesday.
