BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) -- The Beaufort County school district is being sued by a woman who says her disabled son was assaulted at school.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reported several lawsuits have been filed against the school district and the state board of education and two companies that have provided services to the district.
The lawsuits contend the student was sexually abused by at least one employee and a student between May and December 2010.
The suits also allege the student was frequently secluded and physically restrained as punishment.
School district spokesman Jim Foster would not comment. Neither would a spokesman for the state Education Department and the two companies.
Family attorney J. Olin McDougall would not say whether the student was still enrolled in Beaufort County schools.
